11FS

11FS, also known as 11th Field Artillery Brigade, was a unit of the United States Army during World War II. It was activated on 15 October 1942 at Camp Polk, Louisiana, and was part of the 9th Army Corps. The brigade was composed of three field artillery battalions, each equipped with M1 155mm howitzers. These howitzers were capable of firing high-explosive and smoke shells, as well as illuminating and illuminating smoke shells.

11FS saw action in the European Theater of Operations, where it was involved in the campaigns of Sicily, Italy, and France. The brigade played a significant role in the Allied invasion of Sicily, providing crucial artillery support during the initial landings. It also participated in the Battle of Anzio, where it helped to break through the German lines and secure the beachhead.

Throughout its service, 11FS was known for its professionalism and effectiveness. It was deactivated on 15 October 1945 at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey, after the end of the war in Europe.
