Ötztaler
Ötztaler refers to a person or thing from the Ötztal, a valley in the Austrian Alps. The Ötztal is located in the state of Tyrol and is one of the longest side valleys of the Inn River. It is known for its dramatic mountain scenery, glaciers, and popular ski resorts such as Sölden, Obergurgl, and Hochgurgl. The region is also famous as the discovery site of Ötzi the Iceman, a remarkably well-preserved prehistoric mummy found in the Ötztal Alps in 1991. The term "Ötztaler" can also refer to a type of sweet bread or pastry often made in the region. The economy of the Ötztal is heavily reliant on tourism, both in summer for hiking and mountaineering and in winter for skiing. The natural landscape and cultural heritage contribute significantly to the identity of the Ötztaler people and the region as a whole.
