Õigusalusele is an Estonian term that appears in legal language to refer to the grounds or basis provided by law for a claim, decision, or interpretation. It is constructed from õigus (law, right) and alus (base, foundation), with the allative suffix -le, producing a form that can appear in texts as a nominal phrase indicating direction toward a legal base. In practice, however, the standard expressions for the same concept are usually õiguslik alus (legal basis) or õiguslikel alustel (on legal grounds).

Usage and alternatives: The form õigusalusele is uncommon in everyday legal writing and is mostly found in glossaries, translations, or very formal registers. In contemporary prose, editors typically prefer the two-word variants õiguslik alus or the phrase õiguslikel alustel to convey “on the basis of law.” The allative form may occur in older texts or specialized linguistic discussions that analyze the morphology of legal terms rather than in routine drafting.
