Õhuväed, which translates to Air Force in Estonian, is the aerial warfare branch of the Estonian Defence Forces. Its primary mission is to ensure the security of Estonian airspace and to contribute to the defence of the country through air operations. The force is responsible for airspace surveillance, air policing, and providing air support for ground and naval forces.

The history of the Estonian Air Force dates back to the early days of the Republic of Estonia, with a brief existence before Soviet occupation. It was re-established in 1991 following the restoration of Estonian independence. Since its re-establishment, the Õhuväed has focused on modernizing its capabilities and integrating with NATO standards and procedures.

The main base of the Õhuväed is located at Ämari Air Base. Key functions include air traffic control, radar surveillance, and maintaining readiness for various air operations. The force operates a range of aircraft and equipment, including transport planes, helicopters, and modern radar systems.
