Øresundregionen

The Øresund Region, also known as the Greater Copenhagen area or the Sund region, is a transnational metropolitan area centered around the Øresund Strait. It encompasses parts of eastern Denmark, primarily the island of Zealand including Copenhagen, and western Sweden, notably the province of Scania. This region is characterized by its close economic and social integration, facilitated by the Øresund Line, a railway and road bridge connecting Copenhagen and Malmö.

The Øresund Region is a significant economic hub in Northern Europe, boasting a strong knowledge-based economy with concentrations in life sciences, information technology, and creative industries. Copenhagen, the Danish capital, serves as the administrative and cultural center, while Malmö, the third-largest city in Sweden, contributes significantly to the region's industrial and technological landscape. Universities and research institutions in both cities foster innovation and attract international talent.

Historically, the region has a shared past, with periods of Danish and Swedish rule influencing its development.
