Ötistaceae
Ötistaceae is a hypothetical taxonomic family of flowering plants. As an unverified or proposed family, it is not currently recognized by the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants. The concept of Ötistaceae may arise from phylogenetic studies suggesting a distinct evolutionary lineage that does not fit within existing recognized families. Such proposed families often require further extensive research, including genetic analysis and morphological comparisons, to be substantiated. If evidence supporting Ötistaceae were to accumulate and be rigorously reviewed by the scientific community, it could eventually be formally accepted and incorporated into the established plant classification system. Until such time, it remains a theoretical grouping.
