Ölkraftstoffen

Ölkraftstoffen, also known as oil fuels, are a diverse group of liquid fuels derived from petroleum. They serve as primary energy sources for transportation, industry, and heating. The refining process separates crude oil into various fractions based on their boiling points, each yielding different types of fuels.

Gasoline, or petrol, is a key component of Ölkraftstoffen and is primarily used in internal combustion engines of passenger cars and light-duty vehicles. Diesel fuel, another significant product, powers diesel engines found in trucks, buses, trains, and some cars, often favored for its fuel efficiency and torque. Kerosene, a lighter fraction, is used as aviation fuel (jet fuel) for aircraft and also finds applications in heating and lighting. Heavier fractions can be processed into fuel oil, which is burned in industrial furnaces, boilers, and for heating large buildings. Lubricating oils and waxes are also derived from crude oil, though they are not typically classified as fuels.

Environmentally, their combustion releases greenhouse gases, contributing to climate change, and other pollutants that affect air quality.
