Õhukanalite
Õhukanalite is a rare mineral species discovered in 2017. It is named for its thin, needle-like crystal habit, which is a distinctive characteristic of the mineral. Õhukanalite is a phosphate mineral, specifically a calcium phosphate, with the chemical formula Ca2(PO4)2. It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system and typically forms as prismatic crystals that can reach lengths of up to 10 millimeters. The mineral is usually colorless or white, but can also exhibit shades of yellow or brown due to impurities.
Õhukanalite was first identified in the Kihnu Island, Estonia, where it occurs in a unique geological setting
The discovery of Õhukanalite has contributed to the understanding of phosphate mineralogy and the geological processes
