Átmenetokat is a Hungarian term that translates to "transition objects" or "transitional phenomena." It is a concept primarily associated with the psychoanalytic theories of Donald Winnicott. Winnicott introduced the idea to describe the intermediate area of experience that exists between the infant's subjective internal world and the objective external reality. This area is characterized by the use of "transitional objects," which are typically soft items like blankets, stuffed animals, or pieces of cloth that the infant uses to help manage the anxiety associated with separation from the mother.

The transitional object serves as a bridge, providing comfort and a sense of security when the mother is absent.
