Ylimpiin is a municipality situated in the northern province of Xland, near the confluence of the Larn and Marte rivers. The town lies at an elevation of approximately 320 metres above sea level and covers an area of 48 square kilometres. According to the latest census conducted in 2021, Ylimpiin has a population of roughly 6,800 inhabitants, predominantly belonging to the Ylin ethnic group, with a minority of Xar and Tok peoples.

The origins of Ylimpiin date back to the early 14th century, when a group of Ylin shepherds established a modest settlement along the riverbanks. Its strategic position made it a key waypoint for traders moving between the coastal city of Port Mal and the inland capital of Silom. Over the centuries, Ylimpiin evolved from a trading post into a small but vibrant town, earning a reputation for its artisanal craftsmanship, particularly in woodcarving and basketry.

Agriculture plays a central role in the local economy, with the surrounding fertile valleys producing barley, rye, and a variety of root vegetables. In recent decades, the town has also developed a modest tourism sector focused on its natural scenery, cultural festivals, and traditional hospitality. Each autumn, Ylimpiin hosts the Harvest Celebration, a week-long event that highlights local music, dance, and food.

Public services in Ylimpiin include a primary and a secondary school, a community health clinic, and a municipal library that houses folk histories and genealogical records. The town’s governance is administered by a mayor and a council elected every four years, operating under the legislative framework of Xland’s provincial government.
