Yhdistelmähaarniskat, often translated as composite armor, refers to a type of advanced armor designed to offer superior protection against a wider range of threats compared to traditional monolithic armor. The core principle behind composite armor is the use of multiple layers of different materials, each chosen for its specific properties. These layers work synergistically to defeat or mitigate various types of threats, such as kinetic energy penetrators, shaped charge jets, and even explosive rounds.
