Wettabiliteettia, a Finnish term, translates to "wettability" in English and refers to the ability of a liquid to maintain contact with a solid surface, determined by the balance of adhesive and cohesive forces. It is a fundamental property in surface science and has significant implications across various fields, including material science, engineering, and biology. High wettability means a liquid spreads easily over a surface, forming a thin film. Conversely, low wettability indicates a liquid beads up or forms droplets on the surface.

The degree of wettability is quantified by the contact angle, which is the angle formed at the point where a liquid interface meets a solid surface.
