Védővezeték is a Hungarian term that translates to "protective conductor" or "grounding conductor" in English. It is a crucial component in electrical safety systems, designed to protect individuals and equipment from electrical hazards. The primary function of a védővezeték is to provide a low-resistance path for electrical current to flow to the ground in the event of a fault, such as a short circuit or an insulation failure.

This protective conductor is typically colored green and yellow or solely green, following international standards for easy identification. It connects the exposed conductive parts of electrical appliances and equipment, such as metal casings, to the grounding system of the building or installation. If a live wire accidentally comes into contact with these parts, the védővezeték ensures that the fault current is safely diverted to the earth, preventing a dangerous voltage buildup on the equipment's surface.
