Váladékkiválasztás refers to the process by which glands in the body produce and secrete substances, collectively known as secretions or exudates. These secretions serve a variety of essential functions, ranging from lubrication and protection to digestion and waste elimination. Glands responsible for this process can be unicellular, like goblet cells in the respiratory and digestive tracts, or multicellular, forming complex glandular structures.

The mechanisms of secretion vary depending on the type of gland and the substance being secreted. Exocrine glands release their secretions onto epithelial surfaces or into ducts. This can occur through apocrine secretion, where a portion of the cell's cytoplasm is shed; merocrine secretion, where vesicles fuse with the cell membrane and release their contents without cellular damage; or holocrine secretion, where the entire cell disintegrates to release its product. Endocrine glands, in contrast, secrete hormones directly into the bloodstream for systemic distribution.

Examples of bodily fluids produced through váladékkiválasztás include mucus, which lubricates and protects mucous membranes; saliva, which aids in digestion and oral hygiene; sweat, which regulates body temperature; and digestive enzymes, which break down food. Pathological conditions can also lead to abnormal váladékkiválasztás, such as increased mucus production in respiratory infections or pus formation in response to inflammation. Understanding the physiology of secretion is crucial for diagnosing and managing various medical conditions.
