Verolaki is a small community located in the western part of the Peloponnese peninsula in Greece. The settlement lies at an elevation of approximately 200 metres above sea level, nestled between the foothills of the Taygetus mountain range and the plains that serve as routes to the larger towns of Pyrgos and Kalamata. Its geographic coordinates are 37.9500° N latitude and 22.9500° E longitude.

The origins of Verolaki date back to the late antiquity period, with archaeological findings indicating the presence of Hellenistic-era dwellings and stone lintels. During the Ottoman period, the village was recorded in land registers as a modest agricultural hub, primarily cultivating olives, grapes, and wheat. Following the Greek War of Independence, the population experienced a slow increase, reaching a peak of about 600 residents in the mid‑20th century.

Today Verolaki is known for its traditional stone architecture and a small community church that serves as the focal point for local festivals. The economy remains largely agrarian, with olive oil and wine production playing key roles. In recent years, the community has seen a modest influx of agritourism visitors attracted by the region’s landscapes and heritage sites. An annual festival in October celebrates the olive harvest, featuring local crafts, music, and culinary demonstrations that highlight regional specialties such as moussaka, feta cheese, and local honey. Despite its modest size, Verolaki embodies the cultural and historical narratives that characterize the Peloponnese region.
