vattenlåset
Vattenlåset, also known as the water lock, is a type of lock used in waterways to control the flow of water and manage water levels. It is a crucial component in the infrastructure of canals and rivers, enabling boats to navigate between different water levels. The lock consists of two chambers separated by a watertight door, known as a caisson. When a boat approaches the lock, the caisson is closed, and water is pumped out of the lower chamber, creating a lower water level. The boat then enters the lower chamber and the caisson is opened, allowing the boat to pass through to the higher water level. Once the boat has passed through, the caisson is closed again, and water is pumped back into the lower chamber, restoring the original water levels. Vattenlåset is an essential tool for managing water resources and facilitating transportation on waterways.
