Växtorganen are the fundamental structural and functional units of plants. These specialized tissues work together to carry out essential life processes for the plant's survival and reproduction. The primary växtorganen are roots, stems, and leaves.

Roots anchor the plant in the soil and absorb water and mineral nutrients. They can also serve as storage organs for food reserves, as seen in carrots and potatoes. The structure of roots varies, with a main taproot and numerous smaller lateral roots that increase the surface area for absorption.

Stems provide structural support for the plant, holding the leaves, flowers, and fruits. They also act as a transport system, moving water and nutrients from the roots to the leaves and sugars produced during photosynthesis from the leaves to other parts of the plant. Stems can be herbaceous and green, or woody and rigid, depending on the plant species.

Leaves are the primary sites of photosynthesis, the process by which plants convert light energy into chemical energy in the form of sugars. Their broad, flat shape maximizes the capture of sunlight. Leaves also play a role in transpiration, the release of water vapor into the atmosphere, which helps in nutrient transport and cooling.

In addition to these main organs, plants also have reproductive organs, such as flowers and fruits. Flowers are responsible for sexual reproduction, producing seeds that can develop into new plants. Fruits develop from flowers and often contain and protect the seeds, aiding in their dispersal.
