Utilizations is the plural of utilization, referring to the actions of using something or the ways in which something is used, as well as various instances of use across contexts.

In economics and operations, utilization describes the extent to which available resources, facilities, or capacities are being employed. In information technology and data analytics, utilization measures how much of a system’s resources—CPU, memory, network bandwidth—are being consumed. In energy and environmental planning, utilization relates to the use of energy resources or natural assets.

The utilization rate is typically expressed as a percentage: actual output or usage divided by potential or available capacity. Capacity utilization, load factor, and resource utilization efficiency are common terms. Accurate measurement requires stable baselines, time horizon, and accounting for downtime or maintenance.

High utilization can indicate efficient use but may risk bottlenecks, while low utilization signals underuse and waste. Managers balance utilization with reliability and flexibility, designing systems to avoid overloading resources.

In manufacturing, capacity utilization reflects how much of production capacity is used. In cloud computing, server utilization guides scaling. In healthcare, bed or staff utilization relates to service availability. In urban planning, utilization of land and infrastructure informs development.
