Usårbarhet, often translated as invulnerability or imperviousness, refers to a state of being completely unaffected by harm, damage, or attack. In fictional contexts, it is a common superpower granted to characters, allowing them to withstand physical blows, extreme temperatures, or even magical forces without injury. This can manifest in various ways, from an impenetrable skin to an ability to regenerate from any wound.

The concept of usårbarhet plays a significant role in storytelling, often serving as a plot device to challenge heroes or villains. A character who is usårbar may face internal struggles related to their lack of perceived weakness or their inability to connect with others on a human level. Conversely, the absence of usårbarhet often drives characters to develop other strengths, such as intelligence, agility, or emotional resilience, to overcome their limitations.

In a more philosophical or psychological sense, usårbarhet can also refer to a state of emotional or mental openness, where an individual is willing to expose their true feelings and vulnerabilities. This usage, however, is the opposite of the more common understanding of the term in popular culture and fiction. The term itself originates from the Swedish word "sårbar," meaning vulnerable.
