Uralilaisten is the Finnish term referring to the peoples who speak languages of the Uralic family. The Uralic peoples are distributed across northern Eurasia, from Scandinavia and the Baltic region through the Russian Federation to western Siberia and Central Europe (notably Hungary). Major groups include Finns and Estonians, Sámi, Hungarians, Komi, Udmurt, Mari, Mordvins, Khanty, Mansi and several Samoyedic peoples such as the Nenets.

The Uralic language family is typically divided into several branches—Finno-Permic (including Finnic and Permic languages), Samic (Sámi), Ugric (including Hungarian, Mansi, Khanty) and Samoyedic—though classifications vary among scholars. Uralic languages share typological features such as agglutinative morphology, extensive case systems, and vowel harmony in many languages, while lexical and grammatical similarities point to a common origin.

Archaeological, linguistic and genetic research suggests an origin of the Uralic languages in eastern or central Eurasia with subsequent migrations and long-term contacts with Indo-European, Turkic and other groups. Cultural practices among Uralic peoples are diverse: some groups maintain reindeer pastoralism and hunter-gatherer traditions, others are settled agriculturalists or urban populations.

In the contemporary context, Uralic-speaking communities range from nation-states with official Uralic languages to small minority groups with varying degrees of language vitality, prompting efforts in language preservation, education and cultural rights.
