Töötasupinit is a term of Estonian origin that can be roughly translated as "work credit" or "employment points." It refers to a system that was implemented in Estonia during the Soviet era, primarily from the 1950s to the 1980s. The core concept was to track and reward individuals for their contributions to the state-controlled economy.

Under this system, workers would accumulate töötasupinit based on their performance, adherence to production quotas, and participation in socialist labor competitions. These points were not a direct monetary reward but could be exchanged for various benefits and privileges. For example, a certain number of töötasupinit might grant access to desirable goods, better housing, vacation vouchers at sanatoriums, or even priority in receiving certain services.

The aim of töötasupinit was to incentivize productivity and loyalty to the socialist system. It was a way to offer non-monetary recognition and distribute scarce resources in a manner that was perceived as equitable within the planned economy. The accumulation and redemption of these points were often managed by trade unions or factory administrations. While it served its purpose within the Soviet economic model, the system was complex and its effectiveness varied. After Estonia regained independence, the töötasupinit system was abolished.
