Työkolmio is a term used in Finnish labour law and social policy to describe the triangular relationship among the three main actors in the employment system: the employer, the employee, and the state. The concept emphasizes that the conditions of employment and the rights and duties of both parties are not determined by a single relationship but by a system of interdependent obligations. In this model the employer is responsible for hiring, paying wages, and providing a safe working environment; the employee is obliged to perform work and comply with the terms of the employment contract; and the state imposes legal and monetary regulations, such as labour laws, taxation, and social security contributions.
