A työviikko is a Finnish term that translates to "work week." It refers to the standard number of days and hours an individual is expected to work within a calendar week. In Finland, the typical työviikko consists of five working days, usually Monday through Friday, and a total of 37.5 to 40 working hours. This is a common arrangement across many professions and industries.

The concept of a työviikko is closely tied to labor laws and collective bargaining agreements. These regulations often define maximum working hours per day and per week, as well as provisions for overtime and rest periods. The Finnish Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and various trade unions play a role in establishing and enforcing these standards. While the five-day work week is the norm, variations can exist. Some sectors might operate on different schedules, such as shift work or compressed work weeks, where employees might work longer hours over fewer days. However, the fundamental idea of a defined period of work within a seven-day cycle remains central to the Finnish understanding of a työviikko.
