tulehdusvaiheen
Tulehdusvaiheen refers to the inflammatory phase of wound healing. This is the initial stage, typically beginning immediately after injury and lasting for several days. During this phase, the body mobilizes its defenses to clean the wound and prepare it for repair. Key events include vasoconstriction followed by vasodilation, leading to increased blood flow to the injured area. This brings inflammatory cells, such as neutrophils and macrophages, to the site. These cells work to remove debris, bacteria, and damaged tissue through a process called phagocytosis. The inflammatory phase is characterized by the classic signs of inflammation: redness, swelling, heat, and pain. While essential for healing, excessive or prolonged inflammation can hinder the repair process and lead to chronic wounds. The transition from the inflammatory phase to the proliferative phase is marked by a decrease in inflammatory cell activity and the onset of new tissue formation.
