The settlement is situated approximately 12 kilometres north of Liskinskaya Pervaya, the administrative centre of the district, and lies within the Black Earth economic region. The surrounding landscape is characterized by flat steppe land, fertile chernozem soils, and a network of small rivers that feed into the Don River basin. Climate is temperate continental, with warm summers and cold, snowy winters, conditions that support a range of grain and leguminous crops.

Trivialno’s history dates back to the early 18th century, when it emerged as a resettlement of Volga German colonists. The selo once housed a notable wooden St. Andrew Church built in 1834, now a registered cultural heritage monument. The village experienced significant demographic shifts during the Soviet period, when collectivisation and the establishment of a kolkhoz altered traditional land use patterns. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the kolkhoz was transformed into a private agricultural enterprise, and the village has since maintained a predominantly agrarian economy.

Cultural life in Trivialno is centred on agrarian festivals, local folklore singing groups, and a volunteer‑run community centre that coordinates educational and cultural activities for residents. The selo celebrates the annual Harvest Festival in September, which includes displays of traditional crafts, music, and an exhibition of local produce.
