Trimonths is a unit of time that designates a period of three consecutive months. In its simplest form, a trimonth can refer to any three-month interval, and when tied to a calendar, it often coincides with calendar or fiscal quarters: January through March, April through June, July through September, and October through December. A trimonth may also denote a nonstandard three-month window chosen for a particular planning or analysis task, such as February through April or March through May.

Usage of the term is uncommon in formal writing. More widespread terms are quarter and trimester, with quarter typically describing a fixed three-month period within a year (often aligned to a fiscal calendar) and trimester used in pregnancy, education, or certain academic calendars. When speaking of occurrences every three months, “trimonthly” is possible but less common than “quarterly.”

Applications include financial reporting, budgeting, and statistical analysis, where data are summarized over a three-month window.
