Transfúsa is a term that may appear as a variant or shorthand for the act of transfusing blood in medical contexts. The standard term in Spanish is transfusión and in Portuguese is transfusão. In most medical references, the verb used is transfundir or transfusionar, while transfúsa by itself is not the widely accepted noun or verb form in contemporary usage.

A blood transfusion is the medical procedure of transferring blood or blood components from a donor to a recipient, usually through an intravenous line. It aims to restore or improve the recipient’s blood’s capacity to carry oxygen, replace lost blood after injury or surgery, or provide specific components such as red cells, plasma, or platelets. Before transfusion, compatibility testing is performed, including ABO and Rh typing and crossmatching to minimize adverse reactions. Blood can be used as whole blood or separated into components.

Historically, developments such as blood typing, anticoagulants, and component therapy have shaped transfusion medicine. The term transfúsa remains uncommon as a standard designation in medical literature; practitioners generally use transfusión, transfusão, or transfundición depending on language.
