tonów

Tonów is the plural genitive form of the Polish word ton, a unit of mass used in the metric system. The standard ton is the metric ton, also called tonne, equal to 1000 kilograms. In Polish texts, tonów is used when referring to amounts measured in tons, for example: "przesyłka ważyła kilka tonów."

Within Poland and most of the world, the metric ton is the common form. There are other ton variants outside the metric system: the long ton (imperial ton), defined as 2240 pounds (about 1016 kilograms); and the short ton, defined as 2000 pounds (about 907 kilograms). The Polish language typically distinguishes the metric ton as "ton metryczny" to avoid confusion.

Conversions: 1 t equals 1000 kilograms and approximately 2204.623 pounds. In terms of other tons, 1 metric ton is about 0.984207 long tons and about 1.10231 short tons.

Usage: The ton is widely used in freight, mining, agriculture, and industry to express the mass of cargo, stock, or production. It is not an SI base unit, but the metric ton is accepted for use with the SI system and remains a standard unit in many fields.
