Titrációs, often translated as titration, is a common laboratory method used to determine the concentration of a solution, known as the analyte, by reacting it with a solution of known concentration, called the titrant. This technique relies on the principle of a controlled chemical reaction between the analyte and titrant.

The process involves slowly adding the titrant from a burette to the analyte, usually contained in a flask. A suitable indicator is often added to the analyte, which undergoes a visible change, such as a color shift, when the reaction reaches its endpoint. The endpoint signifies that a stoichiometric amount of titrant has been added to react completely with the analyte.

By carefully measuring the volume of titrant used to reach the endpoint and knowing the concentration of the titrant, the concentration of the analyte can be calculated using the balanced chemical equation for the reaction. This quantitative analysis technique is widely applied in various fields, including chemistry, biology, and environmental science, for purposes like determining acidity, alkalinity, or the concentration of specific ions.
