tiheydematriisin
Tiheydematriisi, sometimes translated as density matrix, is a fundamental concept in quantum mechanics used to describe the state of a quantum system. Unlike a pure state, which can be fully represented by a single wavefunction, a mixed state requires the density matrix formalism. A mixed state arises when a quantum system is in a statistical ensemble of pure states, meaning we don't know precisely which pure state it's in, but we know the probabilities of it being in each state.
The density matrix is a Hermitian operator, usually denoted by $\rho$, that acts on the Hilbert space
Key properties of the density matrix include being positive semi-definite and having a trace equal to one
