A through station, or through-station, is a railway station located on a line where trains can pass through the station without needing to reverse direction. This contrasts with terminus stations, where the line ends at the station and trains must reverse to continue. The through-station concept is important for maintaining continuous flow on busy rail networks.

Typical layouts include multiple tracks with platforms on the sides or between tracks (island platforms). Through stations may incorporate bypass tracks to allow non-stop trains to avoid platforms. Signalling and yard access must be designed to minimize conflicts between through services and trains entering or leaving the station. Some stations have dedicated through tracks that pass alongside terminating tracks.

Operationally, through stations enable higher traffic capacity and smoother service for long-distance and commuter trains, since trains can continue on their routes without reversing drafts. They can also facilitate cross-town or cross-regional connections and improve timetable reliability. Limitations include a larger land footprint, higher construction and maintenance costs, and more complex operations to manage the interaction between through services and trains stopping at the station.

Historically, many rail networks adopted through stations on trunk routes to maximize efficiency as services grew. In urban areas, some former terminus stations have been converted into through stations by adding new through lines and platforms, though such conversions depend on space, urban planning, and service patterns. Through stations remain a common solution where continuous movement along a line is prioritized.
