termobarinen
Termobarinen refers to a type of explosive weapon, also known as a fuel-air explosive (FAE) or a vacuum bomb. It operates in two stages. The first stage disperses a cloud of combustible fuel (often a fine powder or liquid) into the air. The second stage ignites this cloud, creating a massive, high-temperature explosion that rapidly consumes the surrounding oxygen. This oxygen depletion is a key characteristic, leading to the term "vacuum bomb" as it can cause suffocation in enclosed spaces. The intense pressure wave generated by the explosion is also highly destructive. Termobarinen weapons are designed to inflict damage over a wide area and are particularly effective against personnel and lightly armored vehicles. The effects are a combination of blast overpressure, intense heat, and oxygen deprivation. The term itself is derived from Greek words meaning "heat" and "pressure".
