Tasavirtaliitintä, often translated as direct current coupling or DC coupling, refers to a method of electrically connecting two circuits or components that operate on direct current. In this configuration, the direct current flows directly from one circuit to the other without any intervening elements that would block or significantly alter the DC voltage or current. This is in contrast to AC coupling, which uses capacitors to block DC while allowing alternating current to pass.

DC coupling is typically employed when it is essential to transfer both the DC voltage and current between circuits. For example, in some power supply designs, one stage might be directly coupled to the next to ensure efficient power transfer and maintain a stable DC output. This type of connection can also be found in certain sensor interfaces where the raw DC signal from the sensor needs to be directly amplified or processed by subsequent circuitry.

A key advantage of tasavirtaliitintä is its simplicity and the potential for higher efficiency as there are fewer components involved and no signal loss due to blocking elements. However, it also means that any DC offset or noise present in the source circuit will be directly transferred to the connected circuit, which can sometimes be undesirable.
