tandvävnad
Tandvävnad refers to the specialized tissues that make up a tooth. These include enamel, dentin, cementum, and pulp. Enamel is the outermost layer, the hardest substance in the human body, and primarily protects the tooth from wear and tear. Beneath the enamel lies dentin, a porous tissue that forms the bulk of the tooth. Dentin is less mineralized than enamel and contains microscopic tubules that transmit sensation. Cementum is a calcified tissue that covers the root of the tooth, anchoring it to the jawbone via the periodontal ligament. The innermost part of the tooth is the pulp, a soft tissue containing nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. The pulp nourishes the tooth and provides sensation. These tissues work together to allow for chewing, speaking, and maintaining the structure of the mouth. Damage to any of these tissues can lead to various dental problems, such as cavities, sensitivity, and infection.
