Tachyarrhythmias are a group of heart conditions characterized by a heart rate that is too fast. The normal resting heart rate for adults is typically between 60 and 100 beats per minute. In severe cases, a very fast heart rate can impair the heart's ability to pump blood effectively, potentially leading to more serious complications.

Diagnosis typically involves an electrocardiogram (ECG) to record the heart's electrical activity. Further tests may be needed to determine the specific type of tachyarrhythmia and its cause. Treatment strategies are tailored to the individual and the underlying condition and can include medications to control heart rate and rhythm, procedures like cardioversion to restore a normal rhythm, or catheter ablation to correct the electrical pathway causing the arrhythmia.
