Säteilyturvakeskus (STUK) is Finland's Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority, a government agency responsible for radiation and nuclear safety. It operates under the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health.

STUK regulates the use of ionizing radiation in medicine, industry and research, the safety of nuclear facilities, and the handling and transport of radioactive materials. It licenses activities, conducts inspections, and enforces compliance with national and EU regulations. The agency also monitors radiation in the environment, assesses radiation risks, and prepares for and responds to radiation emergencies.

STUK is involved in the protection of workers and the public from ionizing radiation and supervises medical exposure to radiation, X-ray devices, radiotherapy and nuclear medicine practices to ensure justification and optimization of procedures. In addition, it is responsible for the management and disposal of radioactive waste, and for decommissioning of nuclear facilities.

STUK participates in international cooperation and standard-setting through the IAEA, Euratom and other Nordic regulators, and aligns with Finnish legislation such as the Nuclear Energy Act and Radiation Act. The authority publishes safety guidelines, licensing decisions, inspection results, and annual reports, contributing to transparency and public information on radiation risks and safety.
