Szövetstruktúra refers to the microscopic arrangement of cells and extracellular matrix within a biological tissue. This organization is crucial for the tissue's function. Different types of tissues, such as epithelial, connective, muscle, and nervous tissue, exhibit distinct and characteristic structures.

Epithelial tissues, for example, are typically composed of cells tightly packed together in sheets or layers, forming a barrier or lining. The specific arrangement, like simple squamous, stratified cuboidal, or pseudostratified columnar, dictates the tissue's role in protection, secretion, or absorption.

Connective tissues, on the other hand, are characterized by a more dispersed cellular component embedded within an abundant extracellular matrix. This matrix, which can be fluid, gel-like, or solid, provides structural support, binds tissues together, and facilitates transport. Examples include bone, cartilage, blood, and adipose tissue, each with unique matrix compositions and cell types.

Nervous tissue is composed of neurons and glial cells.
