Szignálsejtek, also known as signaling cells, are fundamental components of intercellular communication within multicellular organisms. These specialized cells are responsible for producing and releasing signaling molecules that transmit information to other cells. This communication is crucial for coordinating a vast array of physiological processes, from development and growth to immune responses and tissue repair.

The process begins with the generation of a signal molecule, which can be a protein, peptide, amino acid derivative, steroid, or even a gas. These molecules are released from the signaling cell through various mechanisms, including exocytosis, diffusion, or direct cell-to-cell contact. Once released, the signal molecule travels through the extracellular environment, such as the bloodstream or interstitial fluid, to reach its target cells.
