syrovátkový

Syrovátkový is an adjective in Czech that denotes relation to syrovátka, the liquid by-product of cheese making. Syrovátka is primarily water with lactose and whey proteins such as beta-lactoglobulin and alpha-lactalbumin, and it may contain minerals. The term syrovátkový is used to describe products or ingredients that are derived from or contain whey, as opposed to those based on whole milk.

The most common use is in reference to syrovátkové proteiny, whey protein concentrates or isolates, which are sold as powders, drinks or ingredient additives. These whey-derived ingredients are valued for their high-quality protein and complete essential amino acid profile, and they are widely used in sport nutrition, dairy beverages and baked goods. Some products are processed to reduce lactose or to enrich specific protein fractions.
