The South Pole, also known as the geographic South Pole, is the southernmost point on Earth. It is one of the two geographic poles, the other being the geographic North Pole. At the South Pole, all directions point north. The South Pole is located on the continent of Antarctica. It is marked by a stainless steel pole surrounded by a ring of inlaid markers indicating the lines of longitude and the location of the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station.
