This includes certain types of commercial freezers, industrial cooling processes, and specialized cooling equipment. The production process generally involves mixing water and salt to a specific brine concentration, which is then circulated through a freezing mechanism. This mechanism could be a refrigeration coil or a plate freezer, depending on the design of the machine. Once frozen, the salt ice is harvested and can be used directly or further processed.

While effective for low-temperature applications, the use of salt ice has considerations. The corrosive nature of saltwater requires the use of resistant materials in the machinery and in contact with the ice. Additionally, the ice itself is not potable and is intended for industrial or cooling purposes only, not for consumption.
