Sprayszárítók, also known as spray dryers, are industrial devices used to dry a liquid or slurry by atomizing it into a hot drying medium. The process involves spraying the liquid into a chamber where it encounters a hot gas, typically air or nitrogen. The liquid rapidly evaporates, leaving behind dry powder or granules. This method is particularly effective for heat-sensitive materials as the exposure time to high temperatures is very short.

The core components of a spray dryer include a liquid feeding system, a drying chamber, a hot gas inlet, and a product collection system. The liquid is usually pumped and atomized using either a nozzle or a rotary atomizer, creating fine droplets. These droplets are then dispersed into the hot gas stream.
