Sokszögök is the Hungarian word for polygons. A polygon is a closed planar figure made up of straight line segments. These line segments are called sides, and the points where the sides meet are called vertices. The number of sides and vertices is equal. Polygons are classified based on the number of sides they have. For example, a polygon with three sides is called a háromszög (triangle), one with four sides is a négyszög (quadrilateral), one with five sides is a ötszög (pentagon), and so on.

Polygons can also be described as convex or concave. In a convex polygon, all interior angles are less than 180 degrees, and any line segment connecting two points inside the polygon lies entirely within the polygon. In a concave polygon, at least one interior angle is greater than 180 degrees, and it is possible to draw a line segment between two points inside the polygon that passes outside the polygon.

Polygons can be regular or irregular. A regular polygon has all sides equal in length and all interior angles equal in measure. An irregular polygon does not meet these conditions. The study of polygons is a fundamental part of Euclidean geometry, with applications in various fields such as architecture, engineering, and computer graphics.
