Sitoseluler is a term that appears in some non-English scientific texts to refer to aspects of the cytosol, the liquid interior of the cell outside of organelles. As such, it denotes processes, components, or conditions located within the cytosolic compartment, as opposed to those confined to membranes or organellar interiors or to the extracellular space. In English-language biology the common terms are cytosol or cytosolic.

The cytosol is a gel-like aqueous matrix composed mainly of water, ions, small molecules, and a high concentration of soluble proteins. It hosts many metabolic pathways, including glycolysis, and supports cytosolic signaling, protein folding, and turnover. Because it surrounds organelles, the cytosol provides a space where diffusion, macromolecular crowding, and dynamic interactions influence reaction rates and regulation.

Research on the cytosol often involves cell fractionation to separate cytosolic extracts from organellar fractions, as well as imaging and live-cell reporters that measure cytosolic conditions such as calcium or redox state. When interpreting results, scientists acknowledge possible cross-contamination from mitochondria, peroxisomes, or the nucleus and consider the unique composition of cytosolic proteins.
