silnému

Silnému is the dative singular form of the Slovak adjective silný, meaning strong. It agrees with masculine or neuter nouns in the dative case, and is used when describing the recipient or indirectly affected element in a sentence.

In Slovak, adjectives decline to match the gender, number, and case of the noun they modify. The form silnému appears in contexts where the noun is singular masculine or neuter and is in the dative case, such as when something is given to or directed toward that noun. For example, ďakujem silnému priateľovi means “I thank the strong friend,” with silnému modifying priateľovi (masculine singular, dative). Another example: dal som to silnému dieťaťu, “I gave it to the strong child.”

Notes and usage:

- Silnému specifically marks masculine or neuter nouns in the dative singular. It does not apply to feminine nouns, which use silnej in the dative.

- The base adjective silný has other case forms (for example, nominative silný, genitive silného, instrumental silným) that must align with the noun they describe.

- As a grammatical form, silnému is common in everyday Slovak prose and in formal writing whenever the dative is required for a masculine or neuter noun described as strong.
