serinové

Serinové is a Czech adjective used in several scientific contexts to denote relation to serine, the amino acid, or to serins, small passerine birds of the genus Serinus. The form is formed from the root serin with the standard Czech suffix -ové.

In biochemistry and molecular biology, serinové proteázy (serine proteases) are a class of proteolytic enzymes that use a serine residue in their active site to catalyze peptide bond cleavage. Classic examples include trypsin, chymotrypsin and elastase; these enzymes play important roles in digestion, blood coagulation and immunity. The term also appears in descriptions of serinové deriváty or serinové zbytky in proteins, referring to structures that contain serine residues.

In zoology, serins are small seed-eating birds belonging to genus Serinus; in Czech they are commonly referred to as serinové. The adjective appears in field guides and taxonomic texts to denote things related to these birds, for example serinové druhy or serinové populaci.

Outside biology, serinové may describe compounds or residues that incorporate serine or derive from it, depending on context.
