Sekundaarvärvi is the Estonian term for a secondary color. In subtractive color mixing, which is common in pigment-based art and printing, secondary colors are created by mixing two primary colors. The primary colors in this system are typically red, yellow, and blue. Mixing red and yellow produces orange, mixing yellow and blue produces green, and mixing blue and red produces violet. These three colors—orange, green, and violet—are the secondary colors in the subtractive color model.

In additive color mixing, which applies to light and is used in displays like televisions and computer monitors, the primary colors are red, green, and blue. Mixing these primary colors of light produces secondary colors: red and green light mixed create yellow, green and blue light mixed create cyan, and blue and red light mixed create magenta. Therefore, in the additive system, yellow, cyan, and magenta are the secondary colors.
