Sejtösszetétel refers to the fundamental building blocks and components that make up a biological cell. Understanding cell composition is crucial in biology and medicine as it provides insights into cellular function, health, and disease.

The primary components of a cell include the cell membrane, cytoplasm, and genetic material. The cell membrane is a selectively permeable barrier that encloses the cell, regulating the passage of substances in and out. It is primarily composed of a phospholipid bilayer embedded with proteins. The cytoplasm is the gel-like substance filling the cell, within which organelles are suspended. It consists mainly of water, salts, and organic molecules. Within the cytoplasm are various organelles, each with specialized functions. These include mitochondria, responsible for energy production; ribosomes, involved in protein synthesis; the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus, which process and transport proteins and lipids; and in plant cells, chloroplasts for photosynthesis and a cell wall for structural support.

The genetic material, typically DNA, contains the instructions for the cell's development, functioning, and reproduction. In eukaryotic cells, this DNA is housed within the nucleus, a membrane-bound organelle. Prokaryotic cells, simpler in structure, have their DNA located in a region called the nucleoid, not enclosed by a membrane. The specific composition and arrangement of these components vary significantly between different cell types, reflecting their diverse roles within an organism, as well as between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, highlighting fundamental differences in cellular organization.
