seisi

Seisi is a term encountered mainly in Gaelic-speaking contexts and is not widely defined as an independent word in English. It most often appears as a stem or truncated form related to the Irish Gaelic word seisiún, which means a session or gathering.

In Irish language usage, seisiún refers to an informal social gathering that centers on shared music, singing, or storytelling. In the context of traditional Irish music, a seisiún (plural seisiúin) is typically a casual, communal event where musicians take turns playing tunes and songs, often in a pub, home, or community space. The emphasis is on social interaction, repertoire exchange, and spontaneous performance rather than formal staging.

Because seisiún is the standard term for such gatherings, the form seisi or its variants may appear in transliterations or informal writing as a shortened or altered rendering of seisiún. Outside of Gaelic-language texts, seisi may be encountered only rarely and usually without a distinct meaning beyond its connection to seisiún.

Other uses are limited. Seisi can appear as a rare proper noun in Gaelic-speaking communities, either as a given-name nickname or in place-name contexts, but it does not have a widely recognized separate definition in English-language sources.
