Satelitów, the Polish word for satellites, refers to celestial bodies or artificial objects that orbit a larger astronomical body. In astronomy, natural satellites, often called moons, orbit planets, dwarf planets, or even asteroids. Earth's Moon is a well-known example of a natural satellite. The orbits of natural satellites are primarily governed by the gravitational pull of the primary body they orbit.

Artificial satellites, on the other hand, are human-made objects launched into orbit around Earth or other celestial bodies. These satellites serve a wide range of purposes, including communication, navigation (like GPS), weather forecasting, scientific research, Earth observation, and military surveillance. The first artificial satellite, Sputnik 1, was launched by the Soviet Union in 1957, marking the beginning of the Space Age.

The design and trajectory of artificial satellites are complex, requiring precise calculations to achieve and maintain a stable orbit. Satellites can orbit in various paths, such as geostationary orbits, which keep them above a fixed point on Earth's equator, or low Earth orbits, which are closer to the planet and allow for faster coverage of different regions.
